The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of 27 senior Police Officers, including 11 Commissioners of Police (CPs) elevated to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs) and 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) promoted to Commissioners of Police (CPs).
The announcement followed a rigorous evaluation process, which included written and oral examinations, conducted on December 16, 2024, at the Commission’s Corporate Headquarters.
The Chairman of the Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu (Rtd.),emphasized that written and oral assessments will now be a prerequisite for promotions across all police cadres. He urged officers to embrace global best practices, including proficiency in ICT, to enhance their professional standards.

DIG Taiwo Lakanu, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Police Promotions, commended the officers for their hard work and urged them to justify their promotions through dedication and professionalism.
The Commission emphasized its commitment to ensuring timely and merit-based career progression within the Nigeria Police Force.
