The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has disbursed ₦5,119,328,000 to 90,689 pensioners under the Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS) across its four pension departments.
According to a statement signed by the Head of PTAD’s Corporate Communications Unit, Olugbenga Ajayi, the payment was in line with the Directorate’s pledge to clear outstanding pension liabilities as funds are released by the Federal Government. He noted that the move reaffirmed PTAD’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of retirees in accordance with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The payment breakdown shown that ₦276,032,000 was paid to 8,626 pensioners under the Civil Service Pensions Department (CIPPD) for one month; ₦619,584,000 went to 9,681 pensioners in the Police Pensions Department (PPD) for two months; ₦408,736,000 was paid to 12,773 pensioners in the Customs, Immigration and Prisons Pensions Department (CSPD) for one month; while ₦3,814,976,000 was disbursed to 59,609 pensioners in the Parastatals Pensions Department (PAPD) for two months.
The statement further assured that PTAD will continue to prioritise prompt payment of retirees’ entitlements as part of ongoing pension reforms.
