The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has called on Muslims in Nigeria and across the world to use the holy month of Ramadan as a period of prayer for peace, compassion, and national unity.
In a goodwill message marking the commencement of Ramadan, Akpabio encouraged the Muslim faithful to embrace spiritual reflection, self-discipline, and acts of kindness throughout the fasting period.
The message, signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, urged adherents of Islam to take advantage of the sacred season to strengthen their faith and promote mutual understanding among people of different backgrounds.
According to the Senate President, Ramadan offers a unique opportunity for personal renewal and deeper devotion, while also serving as a time to foster harmony within communities and the nation at large.
“As the Muslim community prepares to observe the holy month of Ramadan, I extend my warmest greetings and felicitations to all Muslims in Nigeria and around the world,” the statement read.
He further encouraged the Muslim Ummah to dedicate the period to spiritual reflection, self-improvement, and renewal, stressed the importance of compassion and peaceful coexistence.
Akpabio prayed that the holy month would bring peace, prosperity, and blessings to families and the country, expressing hope that the fasting, prayers, and good deeds of the faithful would be accepted by Allah.
He concluded by wishing Muslims a peaceful and spiritually fulfilling Ramadan celebration.
