The Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Lanre Issa-Onilu, has called on Nigerians to embrace national unity and peaceful coexistence as Muslims and Christians begin the holy seasons of Ramadan and Lent simultaneously.
Issa-Onilu described the convergence of the two significant religious observances as a rare and meaningful moment for citizens to reflect on shared moral values and strengthen national cohesion. He noted that the period provided an opportunity for Nigerians across religious and ethnic divides to work collectively toward peace, understanding, and national progress.
The NOA Director-General urged adherents of both faiths to uphold the duty of care by being their brothers’ keepers, emphasized that the principles of compassion, sacrifice, and selfless service associated with Ramadan and Lent should inspire acts of kindness and mutual support among citizens, irrespective of religious affiliation.
He further encouraged Nigerians to use the spiritual importance of the season to offer prayers for the nation and support ongoing government efforts aimed at addressing security challenges and promoting stability across the country.
Issa-Onilu reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to promoting values that foster unity, responsible citizenship, and national development.
