The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has shortlisted 286,697 candidates for the next phase of its ongoing recruitment exercise.
Announcing the update in Abuja, the Service’s National Public Relations Officer, Dr. Abdullahi Maiwada, said the recruitment, which was advertised on December 27, 2024, offered 3,927 vacancies across the Superintendent, Inspectorate, and Customs Assistant cadres. He disclosed that the Service received a total of 573,523 applications, out of which successful candidates emerged after a rigorous screening process.
The next stage, scheduled between 14th and 21st September 2025, will be conducted through an online Computer-Based Test (CBT). Candidates are expected to take the test from any location with reliable internet but strictly on a laptop or desktop computer with a webcam. A facial verification process will be carried out at login.
The NCS cautioned that the CBT platform is sensitive to noise and movement, warning that distractions or switching between windows could lead to disqualification. To assist candidates, a mandatory pre-test exercise will be conducted two days before the examination.
Applicants for the Superintendent Cadre (Level 8) will undergo an additional CBT in the next phase of the recruitment, while those in the Inspectorate and Customs Assistant cadres will not.
The Service reiterated that the exercise is strictly merit-based and transparent, advising applicants to rely only on verified NCS channels for updates. It stressed that no payment is required at any stage of the process.
