Member representing Ibadan North Federal constistuency in the House of Representatives, Hon.Olaide Akínrẹ̀mí Jagaban has joined a couple of legislators and other well meaning Nigerians to donate to the Trust Fund set up by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, for the purpose of catering for late Abuja Vendor ,Ifeanyi Okereke’s family.
Late Ifeanyi Okereke was shot dead on November 19,2020 at the Federal Secretariat axis of the National Assembly by an operative of Department of State Security (DSS)attached to the Speaker’s convoy.
Recall last week, the Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives paid a condolence visit on the family of deceased vendor where he sympathized with them on the unfortunate death of their son, husband and father.
He further made assurances of ensuring justice, as well as commitments to the bereaved family, part of which was the set up of a trust fund to support the family, and especially the two kids (a new born inclusive) of late Ifeanyi Okereke till they attain adulthood.
In line with the joint task agenda of the 9th Assembly, Hon.Akínrẹ̀mí Jagaban has also donated to this Trust Fund purse, noted that late Ifeanyi’s young family needed all the support they can get from Nigerians in general.
In a statement made public to members of the 9th Assembly, Hon. Olaide Akínrẹ̀mí Jagaban stated that his donation of the sum of One Hundred Thousand Naira only (#100, 000) was his widows mite to support Ifeanyi Okereke’s family.
Hon Jagaban further stated that ” it is a good thing to be of good nature.
“Rt Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila has an excellent relationship with these vendors over the years before he became Speaker, even though they are not from his constituency.
“More so, this incident broke the Speaker emotionally, and out of being a father with human feelings too, he decided to take this responsibility to cater for Ifeanyi’s family, even though the DSS and officer in question are actually culpable”.Hon.Akínrẹ̀mí Jagaban said.
Hon.Jagaban therefore charged his colleagues to also donate to the Trust Fund as that will go a long way in helping the late Ifeanyi’s family.
He also prayed for the repose of Ifeanyi Okereke’s soul.
