In a heartfelt New Year message, the Minority Caucus of the House of Representatives has called on Nigerians to reflect on the nation’s challenges and work collectively towards achieving meaningful progress in 2025.
The message, signed by Minority Leader Rep. O.K. Chinda, Minority Whip Rt. Hon. Dr. Ali Isa J.C., Deputy Minority Leader Rt. Hon. Aliyu Madaki, and Deputy Minority Whip Rt. Hon. George Ozodinobi, expressed optimism for the new year while acknowledging the hardships faced in 2024.
“It is necessary to reiterate that just as Nigeria has issues of governance and lack of inclusive economic growth, there is an urgent, and timely need to ingeniously address challenges of infrastructure deficits, mindless corruption, youth unemployment, and wide-spread insecurity,” the statement read.
The caucus emphasized the importance of collaboration across ethnic, tribal, and regional lines, describing Nigeria’s diversity as a significant asset. They urged leaders at all levels to rededicate themselves to reawakening the nation and implementing reforms aimed at fostering development and unity.
Recognizing the difficulties faced by citizens in 2024, including inflation, unemployment, and insecurity, the caucus encouraged Nigerians to remain steadfast and hopeful. “As we collectively forge ahead as a nation in 2025, we encourage us all to recommit, and reconnect to the values of peace, unity, and development,” they said.
The Minority Caucus also assured Nigerians of their commitment to legislative actions that prioritize the well-being of citizens. They pledged to remain focused on addressing national issues and contributing to the nation’s growth throughout the 10th Assembly.
The message concluded with a call for unity and collaboration, urged all Nigerians to work towards a common goal of peace and prosperity in the new year.
