In a world often overshadowed by challenges and uncertainties, the message of uncompromising faith and dedication to God offers a beacon of hope and strength. This was the central theme of the inspiring sermon delivered by Rev. Dr. Babatunde Idowu at the Foursquare Gospel Church, Garki District Headquarters, Abuja, marking the culmination of the church’s “Exchange of Pulpit” initiative during February’s “Loyalty Month.”
February 23, 2025, was a day of unity and renewal, with congregants gathered amidst the harmonious melodies of the church choir, ready to be uplifted by Rev. Idowu’s empowering words.
Known for his insightful and empathetic teachings, Rev. Idowu’s sermon, “Staying Faithful to God and His Church,” elegantly intertwined scriptural truths with practical, contemporary applications.
Rev. Idowu began with powerful prayers, invoking divine protection and favour over the lives of the congregants. His prayers set the stage for his sermon, emphasizing the vital role of faithfulness and service.
Drawing from Hebrews 10:23-25 and Proverbs 28:20, he outlined the essence of being faithful as trustworthiness and loyalty both to God and mankind, illustrated by biblical figures such as David and Jonathan.
He highlighted the importance of total obedience to God, with Abraham as the epitome of faithfulness, willing to sacrifice his beloved son out of trust in God’s provision. Rev. Idowu urged congregants to serve God with their substance, explaining that true service often demands sacrifice and dedication.
He affirmed, “If your service to God is not pushing you to your limits, you have not started,” challenging believers to give generously and wholeheartedly.
Rev. Idowu provided practical steps for living out this faithfulness. He encouraged the congregation to provoke one another to love and good works, fostering good relationships and mutual support.
He referenced Ephesians 5 to underscore the essence of love within the church community and urged believers to commit their resources to God’s work, drawing parallels with the early church’s unity in Acts 2:42-47.
Concluding with the assurance that “Faithful is He that has promised, He will make it to come to pass,” Rev. Idowu left the congregation with a powerful reminder of God’s faithfulness.
The service closed with the Resounding hymn, “When He calls me, I will answer, I will be somewhere working for my God,” an anthem of devotion encouraging all to remain faithful in their service to God and the church.
In this spirit of faithfulness and unity, Rev. Dr. Babatunde Idowu’s sermon served not only as a call to action but also as a source of comfort and inspiration, reminding the faithful of the transformative power of serving God with all their heart, mind, and substance.
