The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has honored the publisher of SINL Nigeria Online, Saminu Ibrahim, with the prestigious 2024 Media Award.
The award was presented during a grand ceremony held at the commission’s headquarters in Maitama, Abuja, on Tuesday, as part of activities marking International Human Rights Day (IHRD).
This year’s theme, “Our Rights, Our Future, Right Now,” underscored the urgency of addressing human rights issues globally. The event also served as the highpoint of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, a global campaign that started on November 25.

The NHRC praised Ibrahim’s commitment to leveraging journalism as a tool for promoting human rights and justice. The award highlights the pivotal role of the media in shaping a fairer and more equitable society.
International Human Rights Day, celebrated annually on December 10, commemorates the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and serves as a platform to advocate for global equality, dignity, and human rights.
