The Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, has said he was saddened by the death of a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Dr. Adamu Fika.
The Speaker described Adamu Fika’s death as a loss not only to the people and government of Yobe State but the entire country.
Fika’s demise was announced by the Yobe State Government and the Fika Emirate Council, saying the late technocrat died on Tuesday aboard a chartered flight on his way to Nigeria from the United Kingdom.
Speaker Abbas said Dr. Fika was an elder statesman and technocrat of note whose sterling records in the public and private sectors were commendable.
The late Fika was Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF).
He was also at different times Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Clerk to the National Assembly, pioneer Chairman of the Salaries and Wages Commission, and pioneer Chairman of the Federal Character Commission, among others.
The Speaker, while commiserating with his family, prayed Allah to grant Dr. Fika Jannatul Firdaus.
