Speaker Abbas mourns Victims of Ibadan Funfair Stampede, calls for Investigati

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic stampede at a funfair in Ibadan, Oyo State, which claimed the lives of 35 children and left six others injured.

 

In a condolence message issued through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, Speaker Abbas described the incident as a heartbreaking tragedy. He extended his sympathies to the government and people of Oyo State, particularly the families of the deceased.

 

While mourning the victims, the Speaker called for a thorough investigation into the cause of the stampede to ensure accountability and prevent such incidents in the future. He also urged heightened caution and vigilance during the festive season to safeguard lives.

 

“Speaker Abbas prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased and strength for their families during this difficult time,” the statement added.

 

The incident, confirmed by the Oyo State Police Command, has left the community in grief and underscored the need for improved safety measures at public gatherings.
