Summit University, Offa, has recorded a historic feat with the full accreditation of its Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Accounting programme by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), less than 48 hours after receiving a ₦100 million endowment from the Isiaq Family Foundation (IFF).
The ICAN accreditation was granted following the recommendation of the Students’ Affairs Committee and the formal approval of the Council of the Institute, having verified that the University met all stipulated criteria for programme assessment. The next accreditation visit is scheduled for the 2027/2028 academic session.
This major milestone affirmed Summit University’s commitment to academic excellence and professional relevance, especially in the field of accounting education. It also signaled the institution’s growing capacity to produce graduates equipped for both national service and global competitiveness.
Reacting to the development, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abiodun Musa Aibinu, described the dual success as a divine alignment. “The recognition by ICAN, coming so soon after the extraordinary endowment by the Isiaq Family Foundation, sends a clear message that Summit University is on the path of greatness,” he stated. “These back-to-back achievements reinforce our resolve to deliver world-class education and nurture future leaders in the accounting profession.”
Earlier in the week, at the 11th Triennial Conference of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria in Abeokuta, the Isiaq Family Foundation led by Alhaji Kola Isiaq-Balogun announced the ₦100 million endowment. The fund aims to transform accounting education at Summit University through scholarships, a Professorial Chair, research grants, an Accounting Technology Laboratory (AccTech Lab), and academic awards. The package also included provisions for solar-powered electricity and internet access to support seamless digital learning.
The Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, founders of the University, welcomed the two developments as a testament to their vision of academic and moral excellence. They also highlighted the synergy between philanthropic investment and institutional ambition in advancing quality education.
Summit University continue to stand out for its innovative educational approach, emphasising seven core competencies that shape its graduates: ICT and Artificial Intelligence proficiency, financial literacy, Acadopreneurship (academic and entrepreneurial fusion), history and storytelling skills, clean and renewable energy awareness, and global citizenship values.
With these dual achievements, the University is not only strengthening its academic foundation but also affirmed its role in shaping the future of accounting education in Nigeria and beyond.
