A tragic petrol tanker explosion at Dikko-Maje Junction along the Abuja-Kaduna Road in Gurara Local Government Area of Niger State has left several people dead and many others injured. The incident, which occurred on Saturday, involved individuals attempting to scoop fuel from a fallen tanker when the explosion occurred.
In response to the incident, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has expressed its deep sympathy to the victims and their families. The company’s Executive Vice President, Downstream, Mr. Isiyaku Abdullahi, visited the General Hospital in Sabon Wuse, Niger State, where he conveyed condolences on behalf of the company and offered prayers for the deceased. He also wished the injured a swift recovery.
During his visit, Mr. Abdullahi highlighted the importance of public safety and urged citizens to exercise extreme caution around fallen tankers. He emphasized that such tragedies could be avoided if people refrained from approaching fuel-laden vehicles in such circumstances.
NNPCL remained committed to the safety and well-being of all Nigerians and continues to advocate for greater public awareness of the dangers associated with fuel-related accidents. The company is actively engaging in campaigns to educate the public on the risks of fuel scooping and the critical need for caution when dealing with hazardous materials.
