The Transformative Governance Forum (TGF) has congratulated former Chief of Army Staff and ex-Minister of the Federal Republic, Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau, on the occasion of his birthday, describing him as a statesman whose life reflects dedication to national service, principled leadership and institutional integrity.
In a statement jointly signed by the Chairperson of the forum, Mojeed Olujinmi Alabi, and the Vice-Chairperson, Maryamu Laka Madami, the Board, leadership and members of the organisation paid glowing tribute to the retired Lieutenant General, who also serves as a Trustee of the forum.
The group commended Dambazau’s enduring contributions to Nigeria’s security architecture, governance and intellectual discourse, noting that his career in the military and public service exemplified professionalism, integrity and a deep sense of responsibility to the Nigerian state.
TGF said the former Army Chief distinguished himself not only as a soldier but also as a statesman committed to strengthening institutions and promoting good governance.
“His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau (Rtd) is not merely a distinguished soldier and statesman. He is, in the truest sense of the words, a guardian of the republic — a man who wore the uniform with honour, held public office with integrity, and has continued, in retirement, to invest his formidable intellect and patriotic spirit in the work of national renewal,” the statement said.
The forum recalled that during his tenure as Chief of Army Staff and later as a minister, Dambazau demonstrated what it described as “moral seriousness” in public leadership, stressing that he consistently viewed power as a form of stewardship accountable to the people.
According to TGF, the retired General’s membership of its Board of Trustees is foundational to the organisation’s mission of promoting transformative governance, institutional integrity and people-centred leadership.
“To have a man of his calibre, his record and his vision standing with TGF is a statement that our commitment to good governance is grounded in principle, sacrifice and legacy,” the forum added.
The organisation also used the occasion to celebrate the values the former Army Chief has demonstrated over the years, as well as the institutions he helped strengthen through his leadership, while praying for long life, sound health and continued fulfilment for the elder statesman.
