The Federal Housing Authority (FHA) on Monday performed the groundbreaking ceremony for its Renewed Hope Housing Estate in Sobawa, Rigachikun, Kaduna State, signaling a major push to provide affordable and livable housing for Nigerians. The ceremony was presided over by Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s national Renewed Hope Housing agenda.

In his address, Managing Director and CEO of FHA, Hon. Oyetunde Ojo, expressed gratitude to Governor Sani for his unwavering support. He recalled the allocation of prime land to the Authority in March 2024 and highlighted the administration’s commitment to completing existing projects while expanding new estates across the country. “An adequately housed citizen has all the potential for maximum productivity and a good life,” Ojo said, emphasizing that FHA’s mission goes beyond constructing buildings it is about creating livable, dignified environments for Nigerians.

Ojo noted that FHA had already launched similar projects in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, and that groundwork has been completed for estates in Abia, Niger, Ogun, Kebbi, Ekiti, and Kogi States. He assured that the Kaduna project would be completed promptly, fully funded from FHA’s Internally Generated Revenue, reflecting President Tinubu’s directive that “the days of abandoned projects are over.”

Governor Sani, in his remarks, praised the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Housing initiative, described it as a clear commitment to tackling Nigeria’s housing deficit, particularly for the poor, vulnerable, and underserved. Highlighting Kaduna State’s proactive role, the governor noted recent housing interventions, including the distribution of homes to victims of banditry and indigent widows, and reaffirmed his administration’s support for FHA’s projects.

Senator Sani described the Renewed Hope Estate as a symbol of hope and dignity for Kaduna citizens and pledged that the state government would provide all necessary support to ensure its timely completion.

The groundbreaking ceremony underscores the collaborative efforts between the Federal and State governments to provide affordable housing, create sustainable communities, and strengthen citizens’ well-being across Nigeria.
