Prominent political, Traditional, and business figures gathered at the National Mosque, Abuja, for the grand wedding fatiha of the children of Senator Barau I. Jibrin, the Deputy Senate President.
The ceremony which had in attendance President Bola Tinubu, held after the two raka’at Juma’at prayers, witnessed the union of Jibrin Barau I. Jibrin (Abba) and Maryam Nasir Ado Bayero, daughter of the Emir of Bichi; as well as Aisha Barau I. Jibrin and Engineer Abubakar, son of Dr. Abdulmunaf Yunusa Sarina, President of Azman Group of Companies.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Tajuddeen Abbas, served as Wakil and Waliy to Senator Barau’s children. Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, APC National Chairman, acted as Waliy to the Emir of Bichi’s daughter, while former Nasarawa State Governor, Senator Tanko Almakura, served as Wakil to Engineer Abubakar. The ceremony was officiated by the Imam of the National Mosque, Professor Ibrahim Maqari.
The event drew a cross-section of Nigeria’s elite, including governors, senators, ministers, business magnates, and traditional rulers. Governors in attendance included Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq (Kwara), Peter Mbah (Enugu), Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), Dikko Umar Radda (Katsina), Ahmed Usman Ododo (Kogi), and Mai Mala Buni (Yobe).
Other notable attendees were Senate President Godswill Akpabio, former Senate President Ahmad Lawan, and senators such as Ali Ndume, Danjuma Goje, and Mohammed Tahir Monguno. Members of the ECOWAS Parliament, including Fourth Deputy Speaker Billay G. Tunkara, were also present.
High-ranking presidential aides, including Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, Chief of Staff Rt Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, and National Security Adviser Malam Nuhu Ribadu, graced the occasion.
