President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will on Saturday, June 28, 2025, depart Abuja for a two-nation diplomatic tour of Saint Lucia and Brazil, aimed at enhancing Nigeria’s global partnerships and South-South cooperation.
In Saint Lucia, President Tinubu will pay a state visit, holding high-level engagements with key leaders including Governor-General Cyril Errol Melchiades Charles and Prime Minister Philip Pierre. A major highlight of the visit will be his address to a special joint session of the Saint Lucian Parliament at the William Jefferson Clinton Ballroom, Sandals Grande, Gros Islet.
The event will be attended by Heads of Government of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), senior government officials, diplomats, members of the Nigerian community, and the OECS Director-General, Dr. Didacus Jules.
Following the parliamentary address, the Nigerian leader will host a high-level working luncheon with OECS leaders focused on strengthening economic cooperation and cultural solidarity.
President Tinubu is also scheduled to visit Sir Arthur Lewis Community College in Castries to deepen academic ties and promote educational exchange.
The visit reflected Nigeria’s commitment to engaging the African diaspora under the African Union’s Sixth Region framework, promoting collaboration across education, diplomacy, infrastructure, and youth development.
After concluding his engagements in Saint Lucia, President Tinubu will proceed to Brazil to attend the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, scheduled for July 6–7, 2025.
Invited by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Tinubu will attend in Nigeria’s new capacity as a partner country a diplomatic status higher than that of a guest nation. The summit will focus on “Strengthening Global South Cooperation for More Inclusive and Sustainable Governance.”
The President will be accompanied by senior government officials on both legs of the trip.
