The Director-General of the Atum Humanitarian, Anti-Corruption and Charitable Initiative (AHACCI), Hon. Ismaila Yusuf Atus, has expressed strong confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will overcome terrorism, banditry, and other security challenges confronting Nigeria.
Speaking during a media interaction, Atus said the security situation worsened under previous administrations but noted that President Tinubu has demonstrated the political will required to restore peace and stability. He recalled that under late former President Muhammadu Buhari, violent crimes such as kidnappings and attacks escalated across the country.
“We all know what happened in this country. There were several cases of kidnapping and many other issues. But under President Tinubu, I am optimistic things will improve. He is doing everything possible to fix the country,” Atus stated.
He urged Nigerians to remain patient and continue supporting the administration, stressing that sustainable reforms take time. According to him, Tinubu deserves a second term to consolidate ongoing gains.
“We should give him more time. That is why we are asking for his re-election for a second term. With this, Nigeria will be better and more grateful,” he added.
Atus also applauded the President’s efforts in humanitarian intervention, noting that the administration is prioritising the welfare of vulnerable groups, creating job opportunities, and implementing reforms aimed at reducing economic hardship.
“He is taking care of a lot of vulnerable Nigerians the old, the young and working to create jobs. When the country is peaceful, opportunities will increase and hardship will reduce,” he said.
Highlighting Tinubu’s leadership record as former Governor of Lagos State, Atus said the President previously transformed Lagos from a state plagued by insecurity to one of the safest and most prosperous in the country through initiatives such as Operation Sweep and the establishment of anti-corruption institutions.
“If you knew Lagos before Tinubu took over, you would understand the transformation. At one point, you could not walk freely. But Lagos became safe and prosperous under his leadership. The same idea will make Nigeria grow,” he noted.
Atus concluded with a prayer for long life for all Nigerians to witness what he believes will be a positive turnaround under Tinubu’s leadership, stressing that the President is “putting all his energy into building the country” and deserved full public support.
