In a historic session of the National Assembly, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, today presented the 2025 Appropriation Bills to a joint session of the Senate and House of Representatives. The presentation, held in the hallowed chambers of the National Assembly, was marked by a rousing welcome address from the Senate President, His Excellency Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio.
Describing the event as a “call to unity and progress,” Senator Akpabio lauded President Tinubu’s leadership, emphasized his administration’s transformative economic policies and achievements. He highlighted significant milestones, including the removal of fuel subsidies, enhanced revenue generation, increased oil production, and the launch of the Compressed Natural Gas initiative.
The Senate President noted that under President Tinubu’s administration, government revenue has doubled to over NGN 18.32 trillion, while debt servicing expenditures have reduced from 97% to 68%. He also praised the administration for addressing security challenges, stating that no community remains under the grip of terrorism, with over 11,000 insurgents neutralized and kidnapping incidents significantly reduced.
Speaking further, Akpabio commended the President’s focus on infrastructure development, tax reforms, and social welfare programs, including raising the national minimum wage to N70,000 and supporting state governments with over NGN 570 billion in financial aid.

Senator Akpabio urged ministers and heads of extraministerial departments to cooperate with legislative oversight.
He acknowledged the challenges Nigerians face but likened them to “the pains of childbirth,” calling for patience and collective effort to achieve the President’s vision of economic rebirth.
The Senate President assured Nigerians that the National Assembly would conduct a thorough evaluation of the 2025 Appropriation Bills, including public hearings to reflect citizens’ needs.
In his closing remarks, Akpabio reaffirmed the legislature’s commitment to collaborating with the Executive for the betterment of Nigeria, pledging that “together, we will build a Nigeria we can all be proud of.”
President Tinubu then took the podium to unveil the specifics of the 2025 Appropriation Bills, signaling the administration’s continued focus on economic recovery, infrastructural development, and social inclusion.
