The Tiv Youth Organization (TYO), Abuja Chapter has expressed immense gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over his recent appointment of two Tiv sons into his cabinet to help steer the affairs of the nation.
TYO also commended the political leader of the Tiv nation, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator Dr. George Akume for his effective leadership recruitment process in our dear nation.
In a statement, President of the association, Chief Joseph Saater Undu said the appointment of Mr. Shaakaa Chira, a professional in accounting from Taraba state as the substantive Auditor-General of the Federation as recommended by the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) and Hon. Barr. Pius Ukeyima Akutah, a renowned lawyer of international repute as the new Executive Secretary /CEO, Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) is a further demonstration of President Tinubu’s true love for merit above every other parochial consideration and political expediency.
“These appointments are highly commendable and strategic. By this, the President has again heeded the call by the Tiv Youth Organization for inclusion of Tiv people in his government as a mark of recognition and reward for their massive support during the last general elections.
“The President has, by these appointments, made the entire Tiv people worldwide and, of course, the Nigerian people proud of his administration which promises to deliver true dividends of democracy to our citizens,” said Undu.
The President’s Spokesperson, Chief Ajuri Ngelale in a statement said, “The President approved Mr. Chira’s appointment after the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) conducted a screening exercise that identified Mr. Chira as the most qualified candidate who had also scored the highest in the examination amongst all qualified candidates for the office.”
Akutah’s appointment was approved by President Tinubu following recommendations from the Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, His Excellency Adegboyega Oyetola.
Mr. Akutah Ukeyima is a graduate of Law and holds a Master’s degree in Public International Law from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
Before his appointment, Akutah served as the Head of the Central Authority Unit, International Cooperation in Criminal Matters, Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation.
TYO congratulates the new appointees and charges them to justify the confidence reposed in them by Mr. President.
The TYO advised the appointees to remember that Nigerians have high expectations of this government, and urged them to work round the clock and think outside the box to evolve workable solutions to tackle the nation’s economic challenges in line with the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
While thanking President Tinubu over these well deserved appointments of its kinsmen, the TYO reiterated its earlier call on the President to always put the interest of the Tiv nation, and her people at the bottom of his heart.
“Like Oliver Twist, the Tiv Youth Organization will continue to appeal to Mr President to appoint more of our professionals into key positions in his government to help him deliver on his ‘Renewed Hope Agenda,’ while also being fair to the interest of other Nigerians in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Character Commission.
“TYO pledges its unalloyed support to Tinubu’s government as long as it continues to deliver on its campaign promises,” the association said.
