The Tinubu Media Support Group (TMSG) has commended the Federal Government for its sustained fiscal discipline, following the disbursement of N2.45 trillion to sub-national governments over a 17-month period.
The group said the continuous financial support to states and local governments reflects the sound economic management and commitment of the President Bola Tinubu administration to national development.
In a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Emeka Nwankpa, and Secretary, Dapo Okubanjo, TMSG noted that the intervention funds, largely targeted at infrastructure and security projects, demonstrate equitable and responsible allocation of public resources.
According to the group, between March 2024 and August 2025, the Federal Government disbursed N2.45 trillion to sub-national governments under a special intervention programme funded from non-oil savings.
“These funds are disbursed monthly to accelerate project execution across the country and strengthen security infrastructure,” the statement said.
TMSG observed that although state-by-state disbursement details have not been publicly released, available information indicates that no state has been excluded from the programme.
The group described this as evidence of the non-partisan approach of the Tinubu administration, noting that previous administrations had sometimes excluded states governed by opposition parties from similar interventions.
The statement recalled that the Infrastructure Support Fund was established in July 2023, shortly after President Tinubu assumed office, as part of measures to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal.
“This intervention fund is separate from statutory allocations from the Federation Account and was introduced to help states address critical infrastructural and security challenges,” TMSG stated.
It added that the Federal Government has consistently demonstrated its commitment to ensuring that sub-national governments are adequately funded to meet the needs of their citizens.
“These resources are meant to improve the welfare of Nigerians in all parts of the country,” the group emphasized.
While commending the Federal Government’s efforts, TMSG urged state and local governments to ensure that the funds are judiciously utilized for the benefit of citizens, particularly at the grassroots level.
The group also called on Nigerians to take greater interest in governance and hold their elected representatives accountable in order to promote balanced growth and sustainable development nationwide.
