Chief (Dr.) Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL), has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Mallam Mele Kyari, the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), on the occasion of his 60th birthday today, January 8, 2025.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Communication, Dr. Paul Bebenimibo, Tompolo lauded Kyari for his visionary leadership that has transformed NNPCL from a struggling entity to a thriving institution. He praised Kyari’s efforts in aligning the company’s operations with the economic recovery plans of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, acknowledging the tremendous progress made in Nigeria’s oil sector.
Tompolo highlighted Kyari’s pivotal role in the revival of the country’s refineries, particularly the Port Harcourt and Warri refineries, which have significantly boosted Nigeria’s refining capacity. The Port Harcourt refinery, which resumed production on November 26, 2024, now operates at 70 percent capacity, while the Warri refinery restarted operations on December 30, 2024, at 60 percent capacity. These revitalized refineries are expected to reduce Nigeria’s dependence on imported refined products and enhance the country’s energy security.
The Ijaw leader also commended Kyari for his unwavering dedication to combating crude oil theft and ensuring the country’s oil production remained robust. Tompolo acknowledged the collaborative efforts between Tantita Security Services and NNPCL in securing oil pipelines and reducing illegal activities in the Niger Delta region. He credited Kyari for driving Nigeria’s crude oil production from 600,000 barrels per day (bpd) to nearly 1.8 million bpd, a testament to his innovative approach and commitment to national progress.
Tompolo further reiterated Tantita’s commitment to continuing its partnership with NNPCL in sustaining and enhancing the country’s crude oil production, emphasizing the importance of unity among state and non-state actors in the nation’s development efforts.
In his concluding remarks, Tompolo wished Kyari a long and prosperous life, praying for continued health and strength in his ongoing efforts toward nation-building.
