Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have recorded major operational successes in Adamawa State, dismantled elements of the network behind the Gamboru Market Mosque suicide bombing and intercepting key terrorist logistics.
In the early hours of 5 January, OPHK conducted a coordinated cordon-and-search operation in the Yan Lemo area of Mubi South Local Government Area, leading to the arrest of eight suspects, including two principal suspects identified as facilitators of the suicide bombing network. During the operation, troops recovered cash, mobile phones, identification documents, ATM cards, jewellery, and other personal effects. Forensic analysis is ongoing to support investigations.
Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI,in a release confirmed that a suspect already in custody positively identified the two principal suspects as suppliers of materials used to prepare the Improvised Explosive Device (IED). He added that additional occupants of the residence were also linked to the terrorist network and that all suspects remain in military custody undergoing detailed interrogation.
In a related operation on 4 January in Mayo Nguli, Maiha Local Government Area, OPHK troops intercepted 45 jerrycans of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS)—approximately 1,125 litres—suspected to have been smuggled for terrorist use. The suppliers reportedly fled upon sighting the troops, leaving the petroleum products behind. The operation was conducted without incident, and no casualties were reported.
Lieutenant Colonel Uba further emphasized that these operations demonstrate the military’s resolve to dismantle terrorist networks, disrupt supply chains, prevent attacks, and bring perpetrators to justice. He urged the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies to maintain safety across the North East.
