Troops of the Operation HADIN KAI have maintained firm operational control over Ngoshe and Gwoza in Borno State, successfully countering terrorist propaganda and ensuring a peaceful Eid-el-Fitr celebration across the axis.
Military authorities said Boko Haram/ISWAP elements had circulated false claims alleging plans to overrun Ngoshe and conduct Sallah prayers at the central mosque, in what was described as an attempt to cause panic and project a false sense of strength. Security officials dismissed the claims as misinformation aimed at destabilising public confidence.
Following credible intelligence and an attempted incursion on 4 March, troops reinforced Ngoshe and intensified clearance operations around the Gwoza axis. The operations, supported by aerial surveillance and local intelligence, reportedly disrupted insurgent movements and further weakened their operational capability.
As a result, Ngoshe and surrounding communities remained calm throughout the Sallah period, with residents freely participating in Eid prayers and celebrations under tight security coverage.
In a show of confidence, troops led by Commander 26 Task Force Brigade, Brigadier General NI Abdullahi, joined worshippers at Ngoshe Central Mosque for Eid prayers, a gesture aimed at reassuring residents and reinforcing restored stability in the area.
The Chief of Army Staff of the Nigerian Army commended the resilience of local communities and urged continued cooperation with security agencies, noting that public support remains vital to sustaining ongoing gains.
Military authorities also urged residents to disregard terrorist propaganda and avoid spreading unverified claims, describing such narratives as tactics by weakened groups seeking relevance.
