In a renewed push to dismantle terrorist networks and restore lasting peace in the North East, troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), in collaboration with the Air Component, Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), and local hunters, have intensified offensive and logistics disruption operations across Borno and Adamawa States.
The Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, disclosed this in a statement issued on 23 July 2025, highlighting significant achievements recorded between 15 and 22 July 2025.
Among the key breakthroughs, troops of 114 Battalion on 15 July intercepted suspected terrorist logistics in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State, recovering four motorcycles, bags of cement, soft drinks, and foodstuffs. The following day, seven suspected logistics suppliers were apprehended with a large cache of items believed to be destined for insurgents.
On 17 July, troops of 82 Division Task Force Battalion engaged terrorists during a fighting patrol at Amuda and Chinene in Gwoza Local Government Area, Borno State, neutralizing one insurgent. Similar kinetic engagements on 18 July by 27 Task Force Brigade along the Lambawa–Kalari road in Kaga LGA led to the neutralization of another terrorist and the recovery of weapons.
Operations continued across other parts of the theatre, including Bama, Monguno, and Konduga, resulting in the deaths of several terrorists and disruption of planned infiltration.
In a strategic crackdown on insurgents’ supply lines, troops intercepted Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) smuggled in sacks along the Maiduguri–Mafa road and arrested individuals suspected of cross-border fuel smuggling. On 19 July, one Mallam Aminu Idris was nabbed transporting Starlink communication equipment without authorization, suspected of aiding terrorist communications. The same day, a suspected drug trafficker, Ali Abba, was arrested en route to Damasak with large quantities of tramadol and diazepam.
The troops also recovered arms, ammunition, improvised explosive device (IED) components, and communication equipment in multiple operations. On 20 July, a cache of IED materials was recovered around Takaskala in Adamawa State, while an infiltration attempt in Monguno was thwarted with the recovery of RPG bombs and combat items.
A significant milestone was recorded on 21 July when 10 family members of terrorists voluntarily surrendered in Bama LGA, citing the desire to seek safety. Intelligence-led operations also led to the arrest of several informants, including a 15-year-old suspected of espionage activities.
In a final sweep on 22 July, troops, acting on intelligence, intercepted a logistics-laden truck heading to Gamboru from Maiduguri. Items recovered included solar batteries, panels, inverters, refrigerator units, carburetors, and various food items all suspected to be intended for terrorist use.
Major General Kangye commended the gallantry and resilience of the troops, affirming the Armed Forces’ unwavering commitment to restoring peace and security in the region.
“The intensified and coordinated offensives by troops of Operation HADIN KAI have significantly disrupted the logistics networks of Boko Haram and ISWAP elements,” Kangye said. “These efforts have not only denied terrorists critical supplies but also weakened their operational capabilities.”
