Troops Intercept Terrorist Ammunition Courier, Seize 764 Rounds of Ammunition in Zamfara

In a major breakthrough in the fight against terrorism, troops of 1 Brigade, Sector 2, Operation Fansan Yamma, have apprehended a 25-year-old ammunition courier, Shamsiyya Ahadu, in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

 

The suspect, who was transporting 764 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and six magazines intended for a notorious terrorist kingpin, Bello Turji, was arrested on December 28, 2024, alongside her accomplice, Ahmed Husaini, a motorcycle operator.

 

According to a statement issued by Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordinating Centre, the arrest followed credible intelligence about the movement of terrorist logistics along the Kware-Badarawa road. Troops promptly set up a roadblock in the area, leading to the interception of the suspects.

 

“Both suspects are currently undergoing investigation by relevant authorities to uncover further details about their activities and affiliations,” the statement revealed.

 

Lt. Col. Abdullahi praised the public for their support and called for continued collaboration in providing credible intelligence to dismantle terrorist networks. He emphasized the military’s commitment to halting the illegal movement of arms and ammunition and restoring peace in the region.

 

“Operation Fansan Yamma remains resolute in its mission to restore peace and security to the region,” he stated.
