The Armed Forces of Nigeria have intensified their counter-insurgency operations across the country, achieving significant milestones over the past week.
In a statement released by Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, it was disclosed that troops successfully neutralized 109 terrorists and arrested 81 individuals involved in various criminal activities.
The military also made strides in combating oil theft, apprehended six individuals and thwart an attempted theft of crude oil valued at over N618 million in the South-South region. Additionally, 43 kidnapped hostages were rescued during various operations.
The Troops also seized 21 assorted weapons and 124 rounds of ammunition. The recovered items included nine AK47 rifles, five fabricated rifles, and various types of ammunition. Other seized items included vehicles, motorcycles, radios, and mobile phones.
Operations in the Niger Delta led to the destruction of 10 crude oil cooking ovens, 10 dugout pits, and multiple illegal refining sites. The military also confiscated significant quantities of stolen crude oil and illegally refined petroleum products.
The Defence Headquarters emphasized that these operations reflected the Armed Forces’ commitment to ensuring national security and stability. The public is assured of continued efforts to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of military engagements.
