Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have achieved a significant breakthrough in the ongoing fight against terrorism in the North East, eliminating over 70 terrorists, including three high-profile commanders, during a clearance operation in the infamous Timbuktu Triangle.
The operation, which commenced on 16 January 2025, is a coordinated three-pronged assault aimed at dismantling the terrorist enclave. Among the neutralized commanders are Talha, the Terrorist Special Forces Commander; Mallam Umar, the Terrorist Operations Commander; and Abu Yazeed, the Terrorist Brigade Commander.
Despite facing fierce resistance, including the use of improvised explosive devices (IEDs), person-borne IEDs (suicide bombers), and vehicle-borne IEDs, troops successfully thwarted multiple attacks, including the deployment of amateur drones by the insurgents.
Tragically, 22 soldiers paid the ultimate price during the operation, while several others sustained injuries. The Director of Defence Media Operations DMO, Major General Edward Buba in a release said Efforts were ongoing to notify the families of the fallen troops, urged the media to respect this process by refraining from publishing their names prematurely.
The operation is still ongoing, and further updates will be provided as troops continue their efforts to dismantle terrorist activities in the region.
