Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have scored significant victories against insurgents in the Timbuktu Triangle, destroying multiple terrorist camps, recovering arms and supplies, and thwarting coordinated enemy attacks.
On Monday, 18 January 2026, intelligence-led operations targeted known terrorist enclaves including Chilaria, Garin Faruk, and Abirma. Supported by persistent air surveillance, troops successfully tracked insurgent movements, intercepted reinforcements, and carried out precision ground operations.
According to Lieutenant Colonel UBA Sani, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force (North East), the operation yielded a range of recoveries, including radios, ammunition, Boko Haram/ISWAP flags, vehicles, medical supplies, grains, and underground logistics depots further crippling the terrorists’ operational and logistical capabilities. Despite armed drone attacks during the day, the troops maintained momentum, forcing insurgents to withdraw and reaffirming control of the area.
Troop morale remained high, and the security situation, while calm, remained under close watch. The Military High Command has reiterated its commitment to sustaining operations until lasting peace and stability are restored to the North East.
