Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have recorded another major success in the ongoing counter-insurgency operations, neutralised ten terrorists and recovered a cache of weapons and equipment during a coordinated night ambush along the Gamboru–Dikwa–Marte axis of Borno State.
The operation, carried out by troops of Sector 1, 24 Task Force Brigade, followed closely on the heels of an earlier engagement at the Katarko area, where over fifty insurgents were neutralised.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Media Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, said the encounter took place at about 11:50 p.m. on October 25, when troops, positioned in a pre-planned ambush, intercepted terrorists attempting to infiltrate Gamboru-Ngala from the Flatari axis. He said the insurgents came under heavy and precise fire and, after suffered severe casualties, attempted to flee toward Dikwa but were subsequently ambushed and neutralised along the Dikwa–Marte road.
According to him, at first light, the troops conducted a systematic clearance of the area, confirmed the elimination of ten terrorists and the recovery of arms, ammunition, and other equipment, including motorcycles, radios, and personal effects belonging to the insurgents.
Lieutenant Colonel Uba commended the gallantry and tactical proficiency of the troops, noted that their swift and decisive action demonstrated the operational effectiveness of ongoing military efforts in the North-East.
“The success of this operation once again underscores the vigilance, professionalism, and high morale of our troops in the theatre,” he said.
The Military High Command also lauded the troops for their courage and urged them to sustain the momentum in ongoing clearance and domination operations.
Operation Hadin Kai reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining offensive pressure, protecting civilian populations, and restoring lasting peace and stability across the North-East region.
