Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have sustained intense offensive operations against Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists across Borno State, recording significant successes through clearance operations, fighting patrols and blocking actions. The renewed offensives have resulted in the neutralisation of terrorists, destruction of enclaves and the surrender of several fighters.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Media Information Officer of Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, sustained pressure under Operation DESERT SANITY V along the Azir–Wajiroko axis on 10 January 2026 forced 11 terrorist fighters to surrender. The surrendered terrorists laid down their arms, including AK-47 rifles and assorted ammunition.
Lt Col Sani Uba further disclosed that on 9 January 2026, troops conducted extensive clearance operations in the Bulaagalda cluster, destroyed multiple active terrorist enclaves and camps at Dagumba, Bonne, Yaganari, Gosuri and Umchile. Among those dismantled were the notorious Abu Nazir and Abu Ahmed camps, where troops also destroyed life-support structures, degraded terrorist logistics and recovered flags, weapons and magazines.
He added that similar offensive operations in the Yale and Bula Gaida areas forced terrorists to flee, leading to the destruction of additional logistics facilities and the recovery of weapons, ammunition and a general-purpose machine gun. In another intelligence-led operation between Sojiri and Kayamla villages, troops engaged JAS/ISWAP elements, neutralising eight terrorists and recovering AK-47 rifles.
The statement also revealed that two suspected terrorist logistics collaborators were arrested at Gubio Local Government Area for supplying logistics to terrorists. Troops, according to Lt Col Uba, remain resolute in sustaining offensive pressure, dismantled terrorist networks and restoring lasting peace and security across the North East region.
