Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has congratulated Ambassador Cheikh Niang on his appointment as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Senegal.
In a statement issued in Abuja and signed by the Ministry’s Spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, Ambassador Tuggar described Niang’s appointment as a recognition of his vast diplomatic experience and service.
Until his appointment, Niang was Senegal’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations. He had also served as Ambassador to Japan, the United States, South Africa, as well as Consul General in New York.
Tuggar expressed optimism that the new Senegalese Foreign Minister will bring his wealth of experience to bear in his new role, while reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening the historic and cordial ties between both nations for the benefit of their peoples.
