The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, on Friday, November 28, 2025, presented Letters of Credence to five newly appointed Nigerian envoys, marking a renewed push to strengthen the country’s diplomatic presence across key global regions.
The envoys included Ambassador Olawale Emmanuel Awe, ECOWAS Permanent Representative; Ambassador Mairo Musa Abbas, Consul General in Guangzhou, China; Ambassador N.O. Okey-Uche, Consul General in Johannesburg, South Africa; Ambassador Ojo Olobode Steve, Consul General in Buea, Cameroon; and Ambassador Samalia Goni, Charge d’Affaires, Tripoli, Libya.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony, the Spokesperson of the Ministry, Mr. Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, welcomed the diplomats and highlighted the event as a reaffirmation of Nigeria’s commitment to robust and effective representation worldwide.
In his address to the appointees, Minister Tuggar stressed the rapidly evolving global political landscape and the critical need for strategic, forward-looking diplomacy. He underscored the responsibility of the new envoys to defend and advance Nigeria’s interests abroad while upholding the highest standards of professionalism, analytical capacity, and resilience in tackling modern geopolitical challenges.
Responding on behalf of the group, Ambassador Awe expressed profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the confidence reposed in them. He pledged that the envoys would demonstrate unwavering dedication, loyalty, and diligence in promoting Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives.
The ceremony ended with group photographs and a charge to the new envoys to maintain strong communication channels with headquarters and provide regular updates on their mission activities for institutional record-keeping and public communication.
