A Federal High Court in Lagos has convicted and sentenced two notorious drug kingpins, Ajetsibo Emami, 37, popularly known as “Warri Kinsman,” and 51-year-old Solomon Akpomuai, to a combined 10 years imprisonment for trafficking in large quantities of illicit drugs.
Justice Deinde Dipeolu of Court 8, Lagos, on Monday, August 18, 2025, found both men guilty in separate cases filed by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
Emami was arrested on June 28, 2025, in Ikeja, Lagos, following a three-day NDLEA operation that dismantled his drug trafficking network. The sting operation led to the arrest of three accomplices and the seizure of 24 jumbo bags containing 681 pouches of Canadian Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, weighing 414.2 kilograms. He was convicted on one count of dealing in illicit drugs and sentenced to six years imprisonment, with an option of a ₦50 million fine.
In a related case, Akpomuai was intercepted by the Nigeria Customs Service on June 3, 2025, along the Shagamu–Ijebu-Ode expressway with 2,197.8 kilograms of skunk cannabis. He was handed over to NDLEA on June 16 and subsequently charged before Justice Dipeolu, who sentenced him to four years imprisonment with an option of a ₦50 million fine.
Reacting to the judgment, NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd), hailed the convictions as evidence that the agency’s ongoing strategies in the fight against drug trafficking are yielding results.
“The conviction of these drug kingpins is an indication that Nigeria will sooner than later surmount the menace of substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking, as a result of the positive outcomes of our balanced approach to drug supply reduction and drug demand reduction,” Marwa said.
He commended the judiciary, NDLEA operatives, and other stakeholders involved in the arrests, investigations, and prosecutions for their dedication to the pursuit of a drug-free Nigeria.
The NDLEA has intensified operations across the country, leveraging intelligence-led strategies to dismantle drug cartels and prosecute offenders in a bid to curb the rising menace of narcotics trafficking.
