UniAbuja Alumni appoints Caretaker Committee ,as expired NEC members bow out

Pursuant to the University of Abuja Alumni Association (hereinafter called “the Association”) Board Resolution at the end of its meeting held on Saturday, 19th of December 2020, the Board of Trustees of the Alumni Association (hereinafter called “the Board”), wrote a letter to the Alumni Relations Office of the University of Abuja, its Alma Mater, stating clearly the Board Resolution:

The expiration of the tenure of the National Alumni Executive Committee as perArticle 11 of the Association Constitution (hereinafter called “the Constitution” CAC/IT/NO 27048) without any machinery in place to transit power throughout its Tenure. As such, the Board in exercising its powers as contained in Article 12 of the Constitution will summon an Extraordinary Meeting to:
Discuss the expiration of the tenure of National Alumni Executive
Consider the report of the Alumni Relations Office

iii. Elect an Interim Caretaker Committee to manage the affairs of the Association and put in place modalities for election, which the last executives failed to do before the expiration of their tenure.

Subsequently, the Board convened an Emergency Meeting of the Association after duly notifying the University Authority. The meeting was held on Tuesday, 19th January, 2021 and attended by as many Members of the University Alumni Association as the NCDC guidelines on public gatherings due to the Covid-19 pandemic could allow.

The Board presented its Resolutions and the Head of Alumni Relations also presented a Report of all correspondences with the expired National Executive of the Association, which was deliberated upon, whereby a member moved a motion that the expired National Alumni Executive Committee be dissoled to cease to parade itself as such to the general public and a Caretaker Committee be constituted immediately. The motioned was unanimously supported by members without a counter motion.

Consequently, a number of members present were nominated and accepted by the meeting as Caretaker Committee with a mandate to put in place modalities for election to usher in a new Executive Committee for the Alumni Association , amongst others. They are:
