The Obafemi Awolowo University Muslim Graduates’ Association (UNIFEMGA) will honor 29 distinguished members for their outstanding achievements in professional and humanitarian fields at its 15th National Honors Day, scheduled for Saturday, February 8, 2025.
According to a statement by the association’s Public Relations Officer, Ibraheem Fagbenro, the event will take place at Bovina-View Hotel, Ilorin, Kwara State.
The highlight of the event will be the conferment of the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award on Professor Yusuf Olaolu Ali, SAN, a renowned legal luminary, Pro-Chancellor, and Chairman of the Governing Council, Osun State University.
The ceremony will also feature a lecture titled “Nigeria’s Economic Reforms: Mitigating the Challenges through Sustainable Socio-Economic Measures,” to be delivered by Hon. Justice Ahmad Abdul Raheem Sayi Qadi of the Shariah Court of Appeal, Ilorin. The event will be chaired by Emeritus Professor Is-haq Olanrewaju Oloyede, Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

Among the awardees are two Permanent Secretaries, eight Professors, six Directors, six Fellows of professional bodies, and six PhD holders.
Speaking on the significance of this year’s edition, UNIFEMGA National President, Alhaji Mohammed Buari, emphasized that the selection process was thorough and aimed at recognizing members who have made remarkable contributions across various fields.
“We are delighted to celebrate these 29 distinguished members who have excelled in their careers and have contributed immensely to the growth of UNIFEMGA. Their achievements serve as an inspiration to our members and demonstrate the excellence within our association,” he stated.
The event is expected to attract prominent dignitaries, academics, professionals, and members of the Muslim community. It will also be streamed live to allow global participation.
Since the maiden edition in 2011, where Malam Yusuf Ali (SAN) hosted the event, over 230 members have been honored for their contributions to society.
UNIFEMGA, comprising Muslim graduates of both the University of Ife and Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, continue to celebrate excellence and impact within its network.
