The United States has delivered a new batch of military supplies to Nigerian security agencies, reinforcing ongoing efforts to combat terrorism, banditry, and other security threats across the country.
The delivery was confirmed on Tuesday by the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) via a post on X (formerly Twitter), which disclosed that the consignment was handed over to Nigerian authorities in Abuja.
“US forces delivered critical military supplies to our Nigerian partners in Abuja. This delivery supports Nigeria’s ongoing operations and emphasizes our shared security partnership,” AFRICOM stated.
The latest shipment formes part of sustained military cooperation between Nigeria and the United States, aimed at boosting Nigeria’s operational capacity amid rising security challenges nationwide.
In recent months, Nigeria has witnessed increased incidents of mass kidnappings, attacks on rural communities, and assaults on major highways by armed groups. The renewed military assistance comes at a time of intensified counterterrorism efforts, including reported US-backed airstrikes on terrorist enclaves in North-West Nigeria during the Christmas period.
Security analysts note that continued collaboration between Nigeria and the United States remains crucial as the country confronts complex and evolving security threats on multiple fronts.
