VON, NYSC Strengthen Partnership to Combat Fake News, Promote National Unity

The Director-General/CEO of the Voice of Nigeria (VON), Mallam Jibrin Baba Ndace, has reiterated the organisation’s commitment to strategic media collaboration with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to combat the growing threat of fake news, misinformation, and disinformation in the country.

Ndace made this known on Wednesday, 18th March 2026, when he led the VON management team on a courtesy visit to the Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu. The visit, he said, was aimed at strengthening institutional collaboration in promoting credible information and national cohesion.

According to him, both organisations agreed on the need to champion truth, integrity, and responsible communication as critical tools for shaping positive national narratives. He noted that empowering young Nigerians, particularly corps members, to become agents of unity and informed citizenship remains a shared priority.

The VON boss further stressed that the organisation remains dedicated to projecting positive stories about Nigeria and Africans, while supporting public institutions in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as well as the five pillars of the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation under the leadership of the Honourable Minister, Mohammed Idris.

He described the engagement as a renewed commitment to safeguarding information integrity and amplifying inspiring stories that reflect the resilience, talent, and potential of Nigerians.

The partnership is expected to deepen efforts at promoting media literacy, countering false narratives, and fostering national development through responsible information dissemination.
