Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, seems not to know how irritating his so called agitation has become with his unending, unprovoked, unrealistic, self interest agitation in the name of G5. Who now claims to be known as Integrity group, same group that has done everything in direct opposite to the meaning of Intergrity at their state levels.
Same Wike that is the arrowhead, body and tail of the G5 or integrity group became Governor after his fellow tribesman Rotimi Ameachi has served 8 years bringing their total to 16 years, added to that, his state party chairman in now from the same Zone with the PDP Gubernatorial Candidate for 2023. Yet Wike is happy and jolly with that.
As for Governor Ortom of Benue State, only his Tribesmen have being Governors of his State since 1999, even his current Gubernatorial candidate for 2023 is a Tiv Man like Ortom. That is not a problem. What the party wants is to win, but Ortom should watch his back for the Opposition in his state are not sleeping.
Now WIke’s G5 agitation is said to be about Atiku Abubakar and National Chairman of PDP all from the North.
That the National Chairman should resign and allow the position shift to the south since Atiku Abubakar the Presidential Candidate is from the North. Everyone knows Wike is just covering up with such agitation, because he lost at the Presidential Primaries.
For a key Party man like Governor Wike who has “removed” and “replaced” several PDP National chairmen, he knows too well the provisions of the PDP constitution that when a Chairman resigns or vacates office, the Deputy from his Zone will takeover, in this instance, Ambassador Damagun who is not only from the Northern region but from the Northeast like Atiku will takeover making WIke’s call a run on the same spot, in-fact, a backslide into a smaller cocoon, since the current Chairman Dr. Iyorchia Ayu is from the North Central, while Atiku Abubakar is from the Northeast. So Atiku Abubakar who cannot cause that Constitutional jam with an election knocking has suggested that the changes be allowed to be initiated after elections which is less than 60 days away today. Wike won’t hear that.
Why is WIke’s G5 impatient? Why the desperation? Why did Wike waited till he lost the Presidential Primaries and lost Vice Presidential slot to a fellow Southerner Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to start agitation? Why did WIke’s G5 meet with Atiku/PDP’s major opponent Bola Tinubu? Why did Wike and Ortom keep attacking Atiku’s personality instead of staying on the issues? What is WIke’s G5 true agenda?
In any case, WIke’s G5 claim they’re agitating for the South and most likely if the Position of the National Chairman is to go south, it will go to the southwest. But Wike himself was the same person who worked against emergence of a Southerner after the ouster of Rivers’s man Uche Socondus. Wike and his new friend brought Iyorchia Ayu and Same Wike is now calling for his removal, why Wike?
The People of Oyo state, Southwest Nigeria gave Wike and his G5 group a verdict Yesterday at the Flag-off of Governor Seyi Makinde’s second term Campaign. The people of Oyo who gathered in thousands chanted Atiku! Atiku!! Atiku!!! At Wike when he refused to call the Presidential Candidate’s name saying Seyi will speak to you. Wike was shocked! Helpless! And literally taking by surprise!
Wike has always thought his enclave of Porthacourt was the beginning and end of Nigeria, he talks, dances, removes his suit and hat and his small crowd cheers with a live TV coverage, He thought that’s all, he doesn’t know Nigerians have left Egypt, he saw a little different part of Nigeria in Oyo yesterday, he knows by now that he was living in a world of his own detached from reality.
Governor Seyi Makinde Should be careful, else he will hurt himself more than anyone else. Wike is not running for anything but he needs his lackey Sim Fubara to takeover from him else there will be unmitigated trouble for him after he leaves office.
At least, the Southwest that is most deserving of the National Championship of the PDP has spoken in a language WIke’s G5 should understand, the Southwest has shown its sophistication and understanding of the issues and the Southwest in Oyo yesterday made it clear to WIke’s G5 that Wike cannot dictate to them.
WIke’s G5 now knows better, the only option left for the G5 now is to reverse, reintegrate and reinforce PDP to win together with them.
Anything else will be suicidal.
