The World Meteorological Organization Regional Training Centre (WMORTC) has intensified efforts to strengthen institutional collaboration with the Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC) following a courtesy visit to the Centre’s headquarters on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
The Director of WMORTC, Professor Peter Ojugo, was represented during the visit by the Head of Training School, Mr. Aremu A.O., who led the delegation to engage the Commandant of NAFRC, Air Vice Marshal Nnaemeka Ignatius Ilo. The visit, he explained, was aimed at fostering mutual cooperation in key areas such as research, professional training, and capacity development.
Mr. Aremu emphasized the critical role of strategic partnerships in advancing meteorological education and strengthening professional excellence. He noted that closer collaboration between both institutions would encourage knowledge exchange through joint training initiatives, technical cooperation, and shared expertise, ultimately enhancing institutional capacity.
In his response, the Commandant of NAFRC, Air Vice Marshal Ilo, warmly received the delegation and commended WMORTC for its contributions to meteorological research and global scientific advancement. He underscored the significance of meteorology in national planning, environmental sustainability, disaster risk reduction, and security operations.
AVM Ilo reaffirmed NAFRC’s commitment to partnering with reputable institutions to enrich its training programmes and expand professional opportunities for its personnel, described the proposed collaboration as timely and mutually beneficial.
