On Sunday, December 22, 2024, the Foursquare Gospel Church in Wuse District Headquarters, Abuja, welcomed its congregation to a vibrant and spiritually enriching service. Led by the adult choir, the church came alive with songs of praise, setting a tone of unity and joy that continued throughout the service.
The central highlight was a poignant sermon delivered by Pastor Adebayo Azeez, who focused on the theme “Exhorting And Praising The Lord” with the captivating topic, “Yet, I Will Rejoice.” Drawing inspiration from the scriptural texts of Habakkuk 3:17-19 and Psalm 34:2-3, Pastor Azeez imparted messages of hope, resilience, and divine expectation.
Understanding Life’s Challenges:
Pastor Azeez began by acknowledging the challenges many face in life, particularly emphasizing that those who have experienced setbacks or unfulfilled aspirations throughout the year. “This message is for you,” he declared with empathetic conviction.
Adopting an Attitude of Joy:
He urged the congregation to maintain a joyful attitude, emphasizing that God’s purpose surpasses our understanding and timing. “The Lord is working out His means and purpose,” he said, reassuring attendees of God’s greater plans and encouraging them not to overlook the blessings contained within His glory.
Exhorting and Praising God:
A core message of the sermon was the call to praise God relentlessly. Pastor Azeez encouraged worship through songs, adoration, and reverence, irrespective of circumstances.
He emphasized that true rejoicing stems not from material possessions but from a sincere heart blessed by the Holy Spirit. “Learn how not to dwell on the moment; look up to Jesus who gives you hope,” he encouraged, affirming that God has greater things in store for His people.
Taking Stock and Trusting in God’s Promises:
Reflecting on the Apostle Paul’s teachings, Pastor Azeez encouraged believers to take stock of their blessings, citing Galatians 5:22 on inner strength and confidence in the Lord.
He exhorted using Philippians 4:4 to always rejoice in the Lord. In doing so, he highlighted the importance of adapting an attitude of trust in God’s assurances and a future brimming with divine potential.
Declarations of Faith:
In a powerful conclusion, Pastor Azeez led the congregation in declarations of faith, affirming that attendees were destined for greatness and divine elevation.
Citing 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, he assured, “Your story will become a greater joy, your mountains will be surmounted,” leaving the churchgoers with renewed hope and inspiration.
