The Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has called for national unity, love, and collective action as Nigeria celebrate Christmas, urged citizens to emulate the teachings of Jesus Christ and work together to overcome the nation’s challenges.
In a statement issued by the IPAC National Publicity Secretary, Mrs. Chinyere Oge-Kalu, the council stressed the importance of tolerance, patriotism, and collective efforts in the face of hardship. The statement, released on Wednesday, reminded Nigerians that Christmas represents a season of hope and faith, urging citizens to reflect on their shared vision for a brighter future.
“Christmas is a season that rekindles hope despite the numerous challenges we face as a nation. With faith, confidence, and a shared vision for a brighter future, we can overcome these challenges and build a prosperous Nigeria,” the statement read.
While celebrating the spirit of the season, IPAC expressed deep concern over the increasing hardships Nigerians are enduring, particularly following the tragic stampedes in Oyo, Anambra, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) during food distribution events. These incidents, which resulted in the loss of lives, highlight the urgent need for government intervention to address hunger and insecurity across the country.
“Our hearts bleed over these irreparable losses. These events highlight the urgent need for people-centered governance that prioritizes the well-being of citizens,” the council said.
In response to these tragedies, IPAC called on the government to prioritize policies that will alleviate poverty, reduce hunger, and improve security, in honor of the victims and their families. The council urged the government to implement long-term programs that address the root causes of these issues.
As Nigeria reflect on the Christmas season, IPAC appealed for unity among all citizens, emphasizing that nation-building is a collective responsibility. The council’s statement concluded with a message of hope, expressed faith that Nigeria will overcome its challenges and emerge stronger through love, unity, and patriotism.
