Zainab Abdullahi hails from Bida, Niger State, but was born in Jos, Plateau State. She is a Nupe girl with three siblings.
Zainab lives in Minna. She started her primary education in Benue state but completed it in Niger State. She obtained her secondary education in Minna, from Himma International College, to be precise. Therefrom, she proceeded to Federal University of Technology Minna, where she studies Soil Science and Land Management. She is in her final year.
Zainab Abdullahi Bida is a student and a tutor in Indigenous Languages Learning Center (ILLEC), Minna.
Her favourite colour is blue. She loves reading books, especially, history books.
She also has passion for planting, so, in the future, she will like to have her own farm. She loves to see plants everywhere.
Zainab Abdullahi Bida has made history as the only Nupe Student who has never failed a single class since the commencement of her learning Nupe Language in ILLEC, two years ago. She is in her final stage now, writing a project in Nupe Master Class, where she chose to study Teacher Yekondunu in her research work.
Zainab wrote her first Nupe book in Mathematics while her second work is this very book titled “EZA E KPETSO SOKO NIKIN NYI A” (No one relies on God and fails).
Zainab has contested in several competitions, many of which she won. This is her second time of contesting in this Noble Prize after she was defeated by Hajiya Bilkisu Musa Bida, a Kaduna based winner, last year.
Zainab was not deterred by her not winning. She joyfully celebrated the eventual winner, as she was only a runner up.
Having received the results from the three-man committee of judges, Zainab Abdullahi Bida is today declared winner for this year’s Nupe Literature Prize NLP.
This is the highest prize as far as the study of Nupe Language is concerned.
