Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has hailed the Taraba State Green House, popularly called the Cucumber Farm, described it as a revolutionary project with the potential to tackle hunger and boost food security in the North East and Nigeria at large.
Zulum made the remarks in Jalingo while commissioning the remodelled Green House Farm during the North East Governors’ Forum Summit, where the governors raised concerns over a looming food shortage in 2026.
In a statement, Emmanuel Bello, Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communications to Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State, said the commissioning marked a milestone in agricultural innovation.
Apart from Kefas and Zulum, other governors in attendance included Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa, Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe, and Mai Mala Buni of Yobe.
According to Bello, “Governor Agbu Kefas led five of his colleagues to commission the remodelled Green House Farm. Locals often call it the Cucumber Farm, but it is in fact one of the most advanced green houses in the country. With world-class technology, vegetables are cultivated all year round regardless of climate.”
The farm produces premium vegetables such as green pepper and tomatoes, which experts say are among the most nutritious in the market. This has positioned Taraba as the new hub of vegetable farming in Nigeria.
The project is being driven by Ohad Shtilman and Eyal Tal, in collaboration with the Taraba State Investment team, who have refined operations after earlier setbacks to ensure sustainability.
Already, the venture is attracting strong market demand and renewed investor interest, raising hopes that it could transform agricultural business in the region.
