NPC Executive Secretary, Ezughah laments lack of Funding

The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Press Council, NPC, Dr. Dili Ezughah, has described the removal of the agency from the national budget as a huge setback.   Dr. Ezughah stated this when the House of Representatives Committee on Information, National Orientation, Ethics and Values, paid an oversight visit to the council headquarters in Abuja.   He lamented that the development had brought untold hardship to the staff of the agency, with many of them withdrawing their children and wards from school due to inability to pay school fees.  …

NCC warns Nigerians against using pre-registered SIM cards

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has issued a stern warning to Nigerians regarding the dangers of purchasing and using pre-registered SIM cards.   The Commission stated that the practice is illegal and could lead to severe consequences, including imprisonment.   The NCC reiterated that individuals using pre-registered SIM cards might inadvertently become implicated in serious crimes such as identity theft, financial fraud, kidnapping, and armed robbery.   NCC said the use of these SIM cards compromises the accuracy of consumer information and hampers efforts to track criminals effectively.   The…

Terrorists using Young Cryptocurrency Traders to fund their activities — EFCC Chairman

NCC suspends issuance of licence to virtual operators,others

The Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) has announced a temporary suspension of new licence issuance to operators in three categories. The categories are Mobile Virtual Network Operator Licence, Interconnect Exchange Licence and Value Added Service Aggregator Licence.   A virtual operator is a company that does not own a mobile spectrum licence but sells mobile services under its brand name using the network of a licensed mobile operator.
