2027: Bakare Seeks Olubadan’s Blessings for Oyo Governorship Bid

A leading gubernatorial aspirant in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 general election, Dr. Ololade Usman Bakare, on Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to the Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, at his palace in Ibadan.

Dr. Bakare said the visit was to formally inform the revered monarch of his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election and to seek royal blessings.

Addressing journalists after the meeting, the cybersecurity expert explained that leadership goes beyond political ambition and must be rooted in culture, history and the collective destiny of the people. He described the Olubadan stool as a symbol of unity, stability and continuity in Ibadanland.

The aspirant, who was accompanied by Mogaji Akere, pledged his commitment to the growth and development of Ibadanland and Oyo State at large. He said his governorship ambition is driven by a vision of inclusive governance, infrastructural renewal, youth empowerment, economic expansion and strengthened traditional institutions.

Speaking further at the monarch’s residence, Bakare noted that he sought the prayers of the royal father for wisdom, courage and discernment as he embarks on what he described as an important journey.

“Leadership requires divine guidance and the counsel of elders,” he said, adding that he was encouraged by the fatherly advice and blessings he received during the visit.

Bakare emphasised the historical and political significance of Ibadan in the evolution of Oyo State, expressed confidence that with the support of the Olubadan, other traditional institutions and the goodwill of the people, his aspiration would culminate in what he termed a “Greater Oyo” anchored on prosperity, security and progress.

Other members of his entourage included Alhaja Larodo, Mogaji Jubril Alabi, Mrs. Bola Immaculate and Hon. Yisau Olagoke.
