The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to deepen collaboration with the Department of State Services (DSS) in strengthening national security.
IGP Disu made this known during a courtesy visit to the Director-General of the Department of State Services at its headquarters in Abuja, where both security chiefs emphasized the importance of synergy in tackling emerging security challenges across the country.
Describing the DSS as an “indispensable yet often unseen partner,” the IGP noted that no major security operation could be successfully executed without effective intelligence support. He highlighted key areas of collaboration including election security, counter-terrorism, VIP protection, cybercrime, economic sabotage, and intelligence sharing.
He further called for enhanced joint training initiatives to improve operational capacity and strengthen inter-agency coordination, while reiterating his commitment to fostering a more robust working relationship between both institutions.
In his response, the DSS Director-General expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing IGP Disu, describing him as a seasoned officer with the experience needed to advance policing in Nigeria. He also commended the Federal Government for ongoing support to the Police Force, particularly the renovation of training institutions nationwide.
The DSS boss assured that the Service remains committed to sustaining intelligence sharing and joint operations with the Police, describing their partnership as a vital national asset in safeguarding peace and stability.
Both security leaders pledged to continue strengthening cooperation, enhancing intelligence collaboration, and promoting institutional harmony in the collective effort to secure the nation.
