Youth leadership is set to take centre stage in Nigeria’s development discourse as stakeholders prepare for the highly anticipated Abuja Dialogue 2026, a high-level forum aimed at positioning young leaders as critical drivers of national transformation.
The Dialogue will convene an influential gathering of state governors, senior policymakers, industry leaders, development partners, and emerging leaders for a strategic national conversation on the role of youth leadership in shaping Nigeria’s future.
Organisers said the event is designed to elevate youth leadership beyond rhetoric, framing it as a form of “strategic infrastructure” essential for sustainable development, institutional renewal, and inclusive governance.
Serving as a precursor to the Lagos Leadership Summit (LLS), the Abuja Dialogue 2026 will explore practical pathways to strengthen youth participation in governance, innovation, and nation-building. Discussions are expected to focus on policy reforms, leadership development frameworks, and collaborative partnerships that can unlock the potential of Nigeria’s youthful population.
The Dialogue is being convened in collaboration with the Office of the Vice President of Nigeria and the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy under the Lagos State Government. It will bring together thought leaders and key stakeholders to generate actionable ideas, forge strategic partnerships, and produce policy insights that support long-term national development.
Participants are also expected to examine how to create enabling environments for young Nigerians to actively contribute to decision-making processes, while addressing systemic barriers that hinder youth inclusion.
