AIBEN Investment and Properties Limited has unveiled a multi-billion naira commercial complex, CitiMall, in Lugbe, Abuja, designed to boost economic activities, create jobs, and provide a one-stop hub for shopping, business, and leisure.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, Chief Executive Officer of AIBEN Properties, Chief Dr. Andy Elerewe, stressed the need for the Federal Government to prioritise infrastructure development as a means of attracting more private investment into Nigeria’s real estate and commercial sectors.

The facility featured over 60 retail outlets, premium office spaces, restaurants, and the Bourdillon Hotel with 60 elegantly furnished suites. Elerewe said the initiative was aimed at improving convenience, enhancing the quality of life of residents, and reducing the strain on city centres.
He noted that while private developers often bear the burden of providing basic facilities to complete projects, government support in infrastructure would multiply such investments, create jobs, and expand business opportunities.
“It’s not so easy because the infrastructure is not there to support things like this. But we’ll continue to do our best to support government and ensure services get to the people. That’s the most important thing,” Elerewe said.
He added that Nigeria’s market potential remained enormous despite challenges, calling on private investors to look beyond Abuja’s saturated city centre and explore satellite towns with untapped opportunities.
Elerewe also advised Nigerian youths to embrace resilience and hard work rather than seeking quick wealth, stressing that sustainable success comes with patience and persistence.
In his remarks, former lawmaker and Chairman of the occasion, Hon. Emmanuel Ekon, reinforced the call for improved infrastructure, noted that in advanced economies, taxes are used to provide essential amenities that enable businesses to thrive.
“Government should use tax revenues to put in place the infrastructure that young Nigerians need to succeed. That way, more investors can replicate and even surpass what AIBEN has done here,” Ekon stated.
CitiMall is expected to serve as a one-stop destination for residents of Lugbe and its environs, offering retail, hospitality, and leisure services closer to their doorstep while stimulating local economic activities.
