The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has declared that the ruling party remained Nigeria’s most credible and enduring political platform capable of delivering stability, progress, and national renewal.
Speaking in Abuja on key national issues, Yilwatda said Nigeria cannot afford to entrust its future to what he described as “confused and unstable alternatives,” especially at a critical period of democratic consolidation and national transition.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Communications Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, the APC chairman emphasized that the party has consistently demonstrated institutional maturity, national spread, and administrative capacity required to govern a complex and diverse country like Nigeria.
He noted that the APC is not merely focused on winning elections but is actively working to deepen governance, strengthen democratic culture, and rebuild public trust.
“The APC is not an ad hoc coalition held together by convenience. It is a tested and enduring political machine with the capacity to respond to the real needs of Nigerians,” he said.
Yilwatda also took a swipe at opposition parties, attributing their internal crises to poor leadership and lack of preparedness for governance. According to him, persistent factional disputes, legal battles, and ideological weaknesses among opposition platforms raise serious concerns about their ability to manage national affairs.
“A party that cannot govern itself cannot govern Nigeria,” he stated, warned Nigerians against entrusting leadership to politically unstable groups.
On democratic principles, the APC chairman stressed that the party believed in winning elections through popular support rather than legal technicalities or backdoor arrangements. He maintained that true legitimacy comes from the people’s mandate.
Addressing security developments, Yilwatda described the Federal Government’s ongoing mass trial of terrorism-related suspects as a significant step toward strengthening the rule of law and ensuring accountability. He said the move reflects a broader and more comprehensive strategy by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to tackle insecurity through both military and judicial means.
“What we are seeing is a shift from mere arrests to institutional accountability, which is critical for public trust,” he added.
Turning to party affairs in Osun State, the APC chairman commended the state chapter for its growing organizational strength but warned that electoral success would require discipline, clear command structures, and effective conflict resolution mechanisms.
He stressed that the Osun political landscape holds strategic importance for the party, describing it as a “psychological battleground” and a key rehearsal ground for the 2027 general elections.
“Osun is not just another state election. It is a test of strength, a measure of organizational discipline, and a critical step toward 2027,” he said.
Yilwatda urged party leaders, stakeholders, and members to prioritize unity, discipline, and collective interest over personal ambition, noting that victory would depend on coordinated strategy and grassroots engagement.
Reaffirming the APC’s commitment to national development, he said the party remains focused on promoting security, economic recovery, democratic legitimacy, and institutional stability.
“Nigeria needs steadiness, structure, courage, and capacity. The APC represents that responsibility. We are prepared and committed to doing the hard work required to move this country forward,” he said.
